The Pivotal Defense Intro to Pistol course is designed for new handgun owners and those seeking a strong, fundamentals-based introduction to pistol shooting.

This class focuses on safe gun handling, proper setup, and core pistol skills that form the foundation for defensive handgun use. Whether you’re brand new to pistols or looking to rebuild confidence and correct bad habits, this course provides a structured, supportive learning environment.

Course Topics Include:

• Firearm safety rules and range procedures

• Understanding pistol components and controls

• Proper grip, stance, and trigger control

• Sight alignment and sight picture

• Drawing fundamentals (as appropriate)

• Reloading techniques

• Malfunction recognition and clearance

• Basic accuracy and recoil management

• Defensive mindset and responsible pistol ownership

Required Gear

• Handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver in good working condition)

• Minimum of 3 magazines (speed loaders for revolvers)

• Holster

  • Strong-side, belt-mounted

  • Must fully cover the trigger guard

• Sturdy belt capable of supporting a holster

• Magazine pouch or carrier (belt-mounted)

• Ammunition (approx. 250–300 rounds)

• Eye and ear protection

• Baseball cap or brimmed hat (recommended)

• Closed-toe shoes (no sandals)

• Weather-appropriate clothing

* Minimum of 2 students must be enrolled in each class. If minimum enrollment is not met or there are thunderstorms you will be notified and rescheduled, no refunds. We will gladly move your class to another date that works for everyone if something happens to come up and your unable to make the scheduled date.
